Places to Eat in Toronto

Greek Food, Chinese Food, Fusion, Indian food, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, French, all kinds of restaurants, food, and beverages can be found in Toronto. Whether it's fast food McDonald's style or Duck Confit, you will find it in Toronto.

If you would like to enjoy yourself with some fine dining while on Vacation or you are a local of Toronto who wants to enjoy fine dining in Toronto, I think the best place to go is Canoe.

Canoe is owned by the Oliver and Bonacini chain in Toronto and in my opinion is worth the trip and money just for the view. Luckily, though, the service in my opinion is great and so is the food.

Canoe is located on Wellington just west of Bay on the 54 th Floor of the Toronto Dominion Bank Tower. If you are attending for dinner and driving, Canoe offers complimentary parking for dinner guests after 5:30 and on Saturdays in the Toronto Dominion Underground Parking Facility. If you are going during the day, I recommend not taking a car or trying to park your car around Canoe as the Parking just for lunch could cost you over $20.00.

Honestly though, the view from the Canoe Restaurant is almost inspiring, showing the CN Tower and lake front. Best to go before the sun sets so you can enjoy the view.

For more information on Canoe Restaurant, please visit the Oliver and Bonacini website and click on Canoe under “Our Restaurants”, at www.oliverbonacini.com

Other notable restaurants for fine dining in Toronto include Bymark, where the food is excellent. It is actually located at the foot of the same building which houses Canoe. Bymark appears to me a bit more casual than Canoe but this is not bad. The food really is excellent. The owner of Bymark is television personality Mark McEwan of “ The Heat” on the Food Network. For more information about what Bymark has to offer, visit Bymark’s website at www.bymark.ca

Mezes on the Danforth is one of my favourite Casual Dining Restaurants. They have a great shrimp dish called something like Shrimps of Rhodes (Rhodes is an island in Greece that I understand, the owner is from, my Mom is from Rhodes also). Shrimps of Rhodes are just awesome, shrimp in a tomato and feta sauce, which I think are baked in the oven for a bit before serving, and writing about this reminds me I have not been to Mezes in a while to enjoy them. They have a great grilled octopus too!

Fast Food in Toronto can be had on just about any street corner in Toronto. Pizza, subs, shwarma's, gyros, powerdrinks can all be found in Toronto. Many of our grocery stores also have quick serve food counters which have great food. When I am in a rush, I usually stop in at the Sun Valley around Pape and Danforth and order some already prepared Dolmades from the deli counter. They are great, cheap and very fast.
